When she’s not making beautiful, handcrafted Minkys, Shalyn’s family is at the center of her world with two children, five stepchildren and four grandlittles who affectionately call her “Ninnie”. Originally from Naples, a small town in the finger lakes region of New York, she and her husband Matt reside in Denver, NC with their children, three dogs and two cats. 

Shalyn holds an Associate of Science degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Administration. Creative by nature, she also pursued photography and a minor in graphic design which satisfied her love for design, colors and style. 

In her work, Shalyn finds joy in being unique and doing things that others haven’t done before. Her entrepreneurial spirit and growth mindset drive her to find ways to be the best for her business, customers, and family.

Her personal interests in home décor and fashion are what steered her in the direction of sewing more than 20 years ago beginning with quilting and alterations.

Shalyn enjoys meeting new people, antiquing, traveling, and flower gardens. One day she hopes to learn a language, be well seasoned in Pilates and spend more time with family and friends over big meals and game nights.

Giving back to the community and creating opportunities for others to fundraise with her products is important to Shalyn. Using her business for the good of others began with her first personally curated Minky blanket.

She is a collaborator and believes in surrounding herself with loyal, honest, creative, and dedicated individuals to accomplish her mission of giving the luxurious comfort of Plums and Pumpkins.
